F A R B E B E K E N N E N is a German idiom meaning to show one’s true colors. As visual artist and artistic researcher I take it literally: color traces become indices of existence, reflecting its ever-changing nature.
“In artistic response to a body-related momentum, a language emerges beyond rationalization. It opens a gate into our imagination, which expresses itself individually in dreams and collectively in form of great myths and spiritual narratives. It’s a world of the unpredictable and undefinable, containing heavenly ladders, underworlds, powerful creatures and steep ridges. Were people fall into depths only to learn to fly. This inner space and its conflict zones helps us understand ourselves (Individuation), our connections, and the essence of life, reflecting the ever-changing nature of existence. In embracing these contradictions, art becomes a catalyst for transformation. Some see this realm as connected to the womxn, the feminine*, or the matriarchal* (The Nine Muses), associated with recurring processes and intuition. Others call the journey through Individuation The Hero’s Journey, emphasizing intentional focus and action – at least that’s the story. Rather than choosing one of these attributions, the artistic space thrives on the creative friction generated in between. For each person brings their own unique experiences and Individual Mythologies to this liminal space.”

My artistic practice explores the intersection of painting, material and space. Colour, textile, glass and water are the media through which relationships are captured, condensed, transformed and articulated. Rooted in the artistic methodology of Spurensicherung (the investigation of traces), I create works that move between painting, relief and installation. Current bodies of work, including Why Should We Stick Together, Bodies of WaterorThe Fold (Upcoming)– all of which approach painting as a spatial constellation, opening spaces of thought and experience where material, perception, memory and meaning-making come into dialogue.
